SUB DEO: PISTOL I Defensive Pistol Course

Pistol I is offered in a full 6-hour hands-on defensive pistol training courses.

Pistol I, II, III
Defensive Pistol 

Students will learn the following learning objectives:

          Pistol I 
  • Pistol I is often held in a 1-day or 2-day training 
  •  Pistol I: Fundamental Building, Holster draw, grip, stance, sight picture, follow through. Such skills will be learned & repeated to ensure proficiency.
          Pistol II 
  • Consistency and proficiency of the fundamentals. 
  • One handed shooting, shooting & moving, stress induced scenario training. Cover use, Dot torture, etc... 
         Pistol III 
  • Pistol III incorporates Rifle & Pistol transitions (Completion of Rifle I class required) 
  • Dynamic shooting, team building, vehicle ambush, etc... 

Required Equipment:

  • Semi-auto Pistol with 3 magazines (no revolvers)
  • Sturdy belt
  • Holster (no serpas)
  • Eye & Electronic Ear protection
  • Dual Magazine pouch
  • 150 rounds of ammo per day (Example: 2 Day class = 300 rounds)

This training course will surpass the legal requirements for obtaining a concealed carry certificate in the State of Virginia.

PISTOL COURSES FAQ

Will lunch be provided?

Students are expected to bring their own lunch/beverages each day. Alcolholic beverages not permitted. 

Which class is best for me?

Classes are designed according to skill level. Beginners should register to a Pistol 1 and Rifle I course. For Rifle II & Rifle III and Pistol II & III, students must be able to proficiently & safely draw their pistol out of their holster, obtain a proper sight picture, & safely re-holster their posts. 

Do you have Rental Equipment?

We do offer a rental package for the Pistol courses for an additional fee of $30/students. The equipment package does NOT include Eye/Ear Protection, Belt & Ammunition. Equipment Rental Package includes Pistol/Holster/3 Magazines/Magazine Holster. 

what kind of physical activities will i be expected to perform?

Students will have the opportunity to sit whenever possible, but students should understand that standing, bending over, kneeling, and walking will also be part of their day while training with SUB DEO. 

Clothing attire requirements?

When in doubt, wear layers. No open toe shoes, no V-necks. Understand that casings are hot and may land on students. We suggest the covering of arms. Check the weather the night before the training and plan accordingly. 

What kind of ammunition should I purchase?

Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) - according to the caliber of the rifle or pistol appropriate for the rifle or pistol. If you are renting our pistols, you will need 9mm FMJ.
